  • Director, Cloud DevOps and SRE – Customer Experience
    • Acting Operations Director for a new Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) group for Service Providers
    • Currently supporting Rakuten’s fully virtual cloud-based deployment of a new 5G ready mobile network
    • Deploying large-scale logging/monitoring/observability framework to support fully autonomous operations

Alcatel Genesys - Consultant, Senior Software Engineer (72000 - 62003)

  • Developed a telephony proxy server for voice response systems
  • Completely rewrote the Meridian/Symposium proxy server (T-Server) to enable full HA for telecom
  • Both products were high performance networked software in C/C++

Quicknet Technologies, Inc. - Director of Engineering (51999 - 62000)

  • Founded a team to build a Skype-like telephony app over 5 years before Skype existed
  • Invented the Linux Telephony sub-system and contributed device drivers to the Linux kernel (in C)
  • Designed and built software interfaces to several Internet Telephony service providers
  • Integrated the OpenH323 code base into the product offering after acquiring it’s parent company

Herlein Engineering, Inc. - Principal Software Engineer (51998 - 42004)

  • Full time consulting through this company for 1998 and again from 2000-2003
  • Wrote a variety of custom products including embedded systems, Linux, and early VoIP products
